Nike 6.0 Mavrk: low mid hightop mens shoes 2012

The Nike 6.0 Mavrk is classic Nike extreme sports footwear. The colour ways may have changed over the last few years but the style and great overall feel of the shoe has not! The spring 2012 Mavrk is no exception, and provides the same quality workmanship and build eminence as previous iterations and made from synthetic leather and suede with a nubuck upper. Precision designed for skateboarding and other extreme sports in mind, the Mavrk slips easily onto the foot but won’t fly off when you’re nailing the latest tricks and stunts.

Nike 6.0 Mavrk low 2 black white blokes trainers

As with many skate and BMX orientated trainers the Mavrk is equipped to take you through to the next level of riding with a sturdy vulcanised rubber sole that won’t let you down. The honeycomb construction ensures a sturdy grip while maintaining enough strength to take whatever beating comes its way.

MX and dirt bike riders may not be that familiar with Nike’s action sports range as it has been unpopular in recent years, although Nike have finally bucked the perception amongst riders and skaters that their trainers are considered “uncool”. This is still shifting within the motocross scene and hopefully dirt bike riders will soon be sporting more Nike footwear.

Mens Hightop, skateboarders perfect shoe?

The Mavrk is available as a low, mid or hightop trainer and the same consistent quality is found throughout the range. The men’s hightop has the added advantage of extra support, ideal for skating or MTX. The average skateboarder will find this particularly useful due to the extra punishment dealt out from riding ramps and falling off.  They do not offer the hightop in childrens or kids sizes as hightop sneakers can actually do more to harm the development of a growing child’s foot than can be prevented from the added benefit of the materials. They are also heavier which can impede the way young boys or girls walk.

Mens Snowboarding Mid Footwear

The Mavrk Mid is the ideal show for snowboarders. It sports many features boarders and skiers alike will find appearling. The added height prevents snow from getting into the shoe, helping keep the rider warm. They are not waterproof though so do not expect that warmth to last long when the snow melts! When not out with your snowboards why not checkout the Nike 6.0 mavrk low range for something more casual and stylish. Good for the summer or winter.

Men & Womens Low Sneaker

The Nike Mavrk low cut trainer, what to say? A classic in all respects for both action sports and casual wearing. Lightweight and great for summer sports. As always, a range of colour ways are available and the Mavrk does not disappoint. The range for men, women and children are quite similar and are generally distinguished between by the choice of colours found within each range. The womens range also comes with perfume and makeup kit for the discerning women on the go who still wants to look cool without resorting to high heels!

The Mavrk low has the added advantage of being lightweight, although it is not suitable for activities such as running or high impact sports like rugby or football.

Guide To Taking Care of Your Skateboarding, Motocross, or BMX Shoes

motocross-dirt-rider

Motocross Dirt Rider

1. Know what you want out of a shoe:

Shoes do more that just cover your feet. Different shoes have different capabilities. Skate shoes are made to perform differently than Motocross shoes, etc. If you’re going to shell out money on a nice pair of shoes,  then make sure you know how to best take care of them.

2. Protect your shoes:

There are tons of product out on the market meant to keep your shoes looking and performing their best for as long as possible. If you maintain your shoes on a regular basis, they’re guaranteed to last for months longer.

3. Laces:

Cool Shoe Laces

Shoe Laces

Laces can play a major part in how your shoes fit as well as how long they last. Lacing too tight can pull at your shoes, ripping seams. Laces also have a tendency to fall apart, so invest in a good pair when you  purchase your shoes.

4. Grip:

The grip of your shoe’s sole is one of the most important parts of the shoe. Grips allow your shoes to grab on to your skateboard or bike pedal. A bad grip on your shoes can mean slipping and sliding when you’re trying to do complicated tricks. Some Motocross racers and BMX bikers prefer to use skating shoes because of
their strong grips.

5. Proper Maintenance:

Part of proper maintenance of your shoes means proper drying. When drying your shoes, make sure to do it naturally, without the use of heat. Using heat can warp the arches and soles of your shoes, making them more susceptible to breaking and damage.

Other repair and maintenance tips:

  • Keep your shoes clean. Dirt and other debris can get soaked into your shoes, wearing away at your shoes’ fabric. If re-stitching your shoes is required, make sure that it is done by a proper cobbler, using the same holes as the original stitching.
  • Make sure that your shoe have the proper angulations. Do not use half soles. Half soles are not as durable, and can become easily separated over time.
  • If you’re in the market for skateboarding, BMX biking, or Motocross racing shoes, then look no further than Nike, Vans, and D.C Footwear. These manufacturers specialize in making their sneakers ideal for extreme sports, no matter how hard you skate, race, or bike.

To buy a pair, check out a footwear retailer near you or search for your shoes online on a site such as Kickzoo. If you think you might have additional questions about what shoes you’ll need, then consider asking a sales associate about your specific needs. At the end of the day, you’ll be able to find the shoe you
want at a price that won’t break your bank.

What shoe is best for action sports?

The proper footwear can make all the difference when getting involved in sports. The right shoes can provide support, grip, and balance for athletes. The case is no different for skateboarders, BMX bikers, and Motocross racers. Skateboarders and bikers alike require just as much effort from their shoe as any other athlete.

Up until recently, skateboarders and racers were required to wear regular sneakers. Now, there are several lines of footwear on the market from manufacturers such as Nike, Vans, and DC footwear that cater to extreme athletes. These shoes are made to perform at optimum levels, giving athletes the support and traction they need.

Nike 6.0 Shoes

Nike 6.0 Brand Logo

Nike 6.0 has been a major spoonsor in the action sports world

Nike’s been a trusted name in sports equipment for decades, producing everything from basketballs to running shoes. Now, Nike has created the Nike 6.0 line for skateboarding, Motocross racing, and BMX biking. These shoes take into consideration the types of conditions that boarders and bikers face, and have additional grips and sole comfort for additional performance.

The Nike 6.0 line is made up of more than 50 types of sneakers, with various colors and materials available for every type of athletic need. Most are made with vulcanized soles for added flexibility and herringbone tread for positive traction and serious board gripping potential. Most sneakers are also equipped with
perforations for breathability and comfort. And, of course, every sneaker comes with the famous Nike Swoosh. Nike 6.0 sneaks range in price from about £50 to £80, and can be found wherever Nike products are sold.

Vans Footwear

Vans have sponsored the Off the Wall Tour for many years

Vans has been one of the forerunners in creating shoes for boarding and biking. They’ve created lines of clothing for everything from snowboarding to biking. Not only are Vans technologically advanced, they’re leaders in skating and biking style. Buyers can choose from classic designs such as their checkerboard slip-ons, Converse style designs, or customize their own shoe for a few dollars more.

Vans shoes include many of the same features used in Nike 6.0 shoes, including flexible soles and durable seams. An added benefit of Vans shoes is that they wear well on the pavement; they don’t wear down as quickly as other sneakers do, and look more like regular sneakers than some of their bulky alternatives. If you’re looking for a classic look, then Vans is the answer.

To shop for Vans shoes, your best bet is to buy them online. You’ll be able to look for the correct size and style, and even design your own shoe.

Osiris Shoes Feature with Graffiti Artist Risk

Osiris Shoes recently caught up with famous graffiti artist Risky. Risk established his name back in 80s, leading the way in what is now the common place tagging of highway overpasses.  He set the benchmark for others to follow, moving to South California with his parents in 1983. Aged just 16 Risk started to establish himself a name on the high school graffiti scene, starting a competiting graffiti crew called the West Coast Artists. Later, he travelled the world showcasing his talents in graffiti and winning many international competitions.  Risk is an old friend of the guys at Orisis Shoes and has released various designs of Osiris NYC 83 trainers. Checkout our introduction to Risk.

Later on in Risk’s career, he became increasingly involved in various Hollywood community projects. The first of these was a promotional photo shoot for a magazine called Hot Rod, a new skate magazine out at the time. This provided him with the extra exposure he needed to be recognised outside of the graffiti world. He continued to subsidise projects with his work with movie and music producers, including a guest role in the film Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure as well as the music videos for artists such as rapper Ice Cube, Michael Jackson, Punk band bad religion and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

In 1988 RISK travelled to New York to paint trains, making him the first L.A. writer to have his work run, and most likely the last (The New York Metropolitan Transit Authority would later stipulate that all subway cars be free of graffiti before running). In 1989, RISK and Slick were invited to travel to the U.K. to represent the U.S. at the Bridlington International Street Art Competition. They tore the competition to peices and took home the award and silver spray can as trophies.

Risk X Osiris Sneakers

The Summer of 2011 saw the release of the new colourway Risk X  Osiris footwear and proved to be one of the years big sellers. The rugged looks of the NYC 83 Osiris trainer combined with the unique blend of colours, really encapsulated the feel of a lot of Risk’s work. A tribute to such a leader.
